TII's goal is to develop a standard from which the Maritime Domain can assess the experience, training, and qualifications of Private Maritime Security Companies (PMSC) and Privately Contracted Armed Security Personnel (PCASP) who are to be placed in a critical position of protecting vessels and crews at sea.

Understanding there is no current standard to qualify armed vessel security personnel, TII is now working with the Maritime Industry, Naval and Coast Guard Authorities, as well as other international organizations and reputable private security firms to set the standard for quality and professionalism. Private Maritime Security Companies should be able to safely and effectively secure vessels and crews, respond quickly and efficiently to ship owner requests through strong logistics support, have a verifiable past performance with references, and have a thorough understanding of international law, flag state restrictions, and port protocol in relevant countries in order to legally move weapons and personnel in support of anti-piracy operations. Our ultimate goal is to assist Combined Maritime Forces and the Shipping Industry to protect the seafarer, and ensure freedom of the seas.

TII has been working in the Maritime Domain, developing Anti-Piracy plans, designing ship hardending techniques, conducting crew training, and deploying armed security teams aboard high-risk vessels since 2006. Armed Vessel Security teams act as the first responders to impending threats, communicating with the bridge, mustering the crew, and effectively an attack while your crew remains out of harm's way.
